In this course, students will be exposed to the building blocks of an Android application using MIT App Inventor. This integrated web application is an intuitive, visual programming environment that allows everyone – even kids – to build fully functional apps for smartphones and tablets.
This block based approach for creating apps facilitates the creation of complex, high-impact apps in significantly less time than traditional programming environments. In this course, you will be inspired to make creative and meaningful mobile apps. We teach fundamental programming logic along with the tools required to develop apps, empowering you to create, rather than just use software technology.
TOPICS AND PROJECTS
Learn fundamentals of coding and learn to decompose, abstract and modularize.
User Interface Design
Explore mobile interfaces for resource planning and calculator apps.
Back-end & Sensors
Learn about the server side of the app and program smartphone sensors like accelerometer, pedometer etc.
Design an application to draw using different color and pen settings.
1 & 2 Player Games
Push Button, Bounce, Squash, Mole Mash, Fruit Slice, Rock-Paper-Scissor, Golf and lots more.
Make a sound recorder, voice translator, text-to-voice app and virtual musical instruments like a piano.
